It also confirms the earlier report by The Sports News of VIVO returning as IPL title sponsor.
“Vivo is back as the title sponsor of IPL and that is very encouraging and exciting for us because IPL is the biggest property in India and is a perfect amalgamation of sports and entertainment, so we are looking forward to the 9th of April when IPL begins,” Nipun Marya told PTI on Wednesday.
“The whole environment has certainly now changed for the better and overall, the environment is better. I think it’s befitting that Vivo is back as the IPL title sponsor. Our old contract is as it is and we continue with all the terms and conditions we earlier had on the contract,” he added.
In August 2020, VIVO pulled as IPL Title Sponsorship for IPL 2020 after citing dip in sales during the pandemic. Though it was reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suspended due to standoff at the Line of Actual Control and backlash against Chinese companies.
VIVO had bagged the IPL Title Sponsorship in 2017 for a whopping Rs 2,199 crores for five years. With three years left of the deal, VIVO will be title sponsorship till 2023 which was ending in 2022.
