The IPL Media Rights tender for the cycle 2023-2027 will be released immediately after the appointment of two new IPL teams which is scheduled to be announced on October 25, 2021, BCCI said on Tuesday (Septemeber 28) after the IPL GOverning Council meeting.
In a media release, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said, “IPL Media Rights tender for the cycle 2023-2027 will be released immediately after the appointment of two new IPL teams which is scheduled to be announced on 25th October 2021.”
In August, BCCI floated an Invitation to Tender (ITT) inviting bids for owning two new teams to be inducted in IPL. Interested parties could buy the tender for a non-refundable ₹10 lakh plus taxes till October 5.
Star India currently hold the IPL media, who won both the television broadcast rights as well as digital streaming rights for Rs 16,347.50 crore for a period of five years (2017-2022) in 2017.
At IPL governing council meeting, it was also decided that the IPL 2021 last two league matches will be played concurrently on October 8. Instead of having one afternoon match and one evening match, two matches will be played simultaneously at 7.30 PM IST.
