The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced India’s squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against West Indies.
Ajit Agarkar-led Senior Men’s Selection Committee picked India’s squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against West Indies to be played in the Caribbean Islands and Florida, USA.
The team will be led by Hardik Pandya with Suryakumar Yadav as his deputy.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma received maiden call-ups to the Indian team for the T20I leg of the West Indies tour with the seniors, including Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, continuing to miss out
Mukesh Kumar, who was also named in the Test and ODI squad, earned a T20I call-up while Sanju Samson also returned to the squad as a wicketkeeper.
There was no room for Jitesh Sharma, who was the backup keeper in the last series against New Zealand at home. Ishan Kishan and Samson are the wicketkeeping options in the squad.
Rahul Tripathi, Washington Sundar, Deepak Hooda and Shivam Mavi, all of whom were part of the New Zealand T20Is, miss out. Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was initially named in the T20Is for the New Zealand series, is also not part of the squad.
Ravi Bishnoi returned to the squad with Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav retained as spin options alongside Axar Patel. Ravindra Jadeja has not been named in the squad.
Umran Malik, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar and Arshdeep Singh form the pace department.
