Delhi Capitals all-rounder Axar Patel has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021).
Patel had checked into the team hotel in Mumbai on Mar 28, 2021, with a negative report. His report from the second COVID-19 test came positive.
“Patel is currently in isolation at a designated medical care facility. The Delhi Capitals medical team is in constant touch with Axar and ensuring his safety and well-being. We wish him a speedy recovery,” Delhi Capitals said in a statement.
Axar Patel is the second player, after the Kolkata Knight Riders’ Nitish Rana, to test positive since the teams started checking into their hotels. Though Nitish Rana latest report has come negative and is expected to start training with the team shortly.
