Mumbai Indians (MI) on Wednesday named Riley Meredith as a replacement for injured fast bowler Jhye Richardson for the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023). Riley Meredith joins them for Rs 1.5 crore.
Richardson is suffering from a hamstring injury and is ruled out of the IPL 2023.

His replacement, Australian fast bowler, Riley Meredith has played 5 T20Is picking up 8 wickets that include a three-wicket haul. He has represented the Punjab Kings & Mumbai Indians in the previous editions of the IPL. Meredith has played 13 matches in the IPL, where he has picked up 12 wickets to his name.
Mumbai Indians were in talks with Sri Lanka fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera as well but the deal didn’t go through.
Mumbai started IPL 2023 with a crushing defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Their pace stocks were depleted after injuries to Jasprit Bumrah and Richardson. Meredith joins Jofra Archer, Jason Behrendorff, Duan Jansen and Cameron Green as other overseas seam bowling options at the franchise.
Richardson underwent surgery in March to overcome his hamstring issues. He is likely to miss the upcoming Ashes too.
