Delhi Capitals (DC) have signed Afghanistan all-rounder Gulbadin Naib as a replacement for Mitchell Marsh for the remainder of the 20224 Indian Premier League (IPL 2024).
Marsh has been ruled out of the tournament due to a hamstring injury suffered during the match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Marsh had featured in the first four games of the season for the Capitals and has contributed 61 runs across three innings with a top score of 23 and took one wicket over eight overs, maintaining an economy rate of 12.87.

Marsh travelled back to Perth, Australia on April 7 to consult Cricket Australia’s medical staff. However, his return to the IPL was delayed to give him adequate time to recover before being reassessed.
However, with injury management taking a lot of time, CS decided that he should remain in Australia and follow the rehabilitation process that wouldn’t jeopardize his role as a potential leader for Australia in the upcoming T20 World Cup, slated to commence on June 1.
“I spoke to him today, it’s a little bit longer than any first thought to get over it. I don’t think the World Cup will be an issue, but It’ll be hard work to see him coming back here for us,” DC coach Ricky Ponting had said earlier this week.
