Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) today announced the signing of New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry as a replacement player for England all-rounder David Willey, who has pulled out of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) due to personal reasons.
Henry joins Lucknow Super Giants at his base price of INR 1.25 crores.

Henry has represented New Zealand in 25 Tests, 82 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 17 T20 Internationals so far. In the past, he has been a part of the Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. He has featured in two IPL matches so far, both for the Punjab Kings in 2017.

On the other hand, David Willey joined the Super Giants last year after previously representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2022 and 2023. He had expressed fatigue after an extended period on the road, participating in other T20 tournaments such as the International League T20 (with Abu Dhabi Knight Riders) and the Pakistan Super League (with Multan Sultans) earlier this year.
