Mumbai Indians (MI) have signed Saurashtra wicket-keeper batter Harvik Desai as a replacement for wicket-keeper batter Vishnu Vinod for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024).
Vishnu Vinod has been ruled out of IPL 2024 owing to an injury to his forearm.
The 30-year-old Vishnu picked up an injury on his left forearm. Vishnu, who featured in three games in IPL 2023, was retained by Mumbai Indians this season. Despite being incredibly talented, Vinod could manage only 37 runs in three outings in the previous IPL season.

The 24-year-old Harvik has a century in all three formats of the game and was a member of the India U19 team that won the World Cup in 2018. Harvik scored the winning runs for India in the 2018 under-19 World Cup final.
Harvik made his domestic debut across formats in the 2018-19 season and averages over 30 at a healthy strike rate of 134.17 in T20s.

This will be Desai’s first stint in the IPL. Desai has played 27 T20s, 40 List A and 46 first-class games for Saurashtra.
