Ahead of the 9th edition of the Indian Super League (ISL 2022-23), Jamshedpur FC confirms the extension of Leslie Cleevely as Goalkeeping Coach of the club. The world-famous Goalkeeping Coach, fondly called ‘Les’, has signed up to May 2023 and will join the newly appointed head coach Aidy Boothroyd’s coaching staff along with Noel Wilson.
Cleevely joined Jamshedpur FC from East Bengal in January 2022. His impact was immediate as his first match saw the club begin with a clean sheet vs FC Goa in a hard-fought 1-0 win and Rehenesh provided match-winning performances in the later matches as well which was crucial to Jamshedpur’s title-winning campaign.
The Englishman will join the squad in August to begin preparations for the upcoming Indian Super League campaign with the pre-season.
Upon signing the dotted line, Les said, “Johar Jamshedpur! When I received the offer to come back as goalkeeping coach and defend our ISL league title, it didn’t take any persuasion. I’m looking forward to getting to work with our exciting roster of goalkeepers and of course Aidy Boothroyd who a fantastic coach and the right man for the job. Look forward to seeing you all soon at The Furnace. Jam Ke Khelenge!”
Club’s new gaffer was excited to work with Cleevely. Aidy Boothroy said, “Les comes with abundance of experience having worked with the world’s best goalkeepers and also contributed in making them the best. We are blessed with some top keepers and we want to ensure they continue and build-upon their current abilities, for which Les is the right man. Looking forward to work with him!”
