Ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Super League (ISL 2023-24), East Bengal FC announced that defender Jordan Elsey is set to miss a few months of action after sustaining a knee injury in the Durand Cup 2023 final.
Elsey, who joined the club in the summer transfer window, was a key player for finalists East Bengal FC in the recently concluded Durand Cup 2023. The Australian made his full debut for East Bengal FC against Mohun Bagan Super Giant and put up a solid performance as his side registered their first Kolkata Derby victory in four years. He featured in five games for the Red & Golds during the tournament and also netted his first goal for the club.
