Ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Super League (ISL 2024-25), NorthEast United FC announced that Asheer Akhtar has signed a two-year contract extension with the club, keeping him until 2026.
Asheer has been one of the standout performers last season, demonstrating remarkable consistency and strength in defense. The 29-year-old defender from Kamptee, Maharashtra, featured in 19 league games last season.

In his first Indian Super League (ISL) season, Asheer gained invaluable experience and proved his mettle by clocking over 1600 minutes of playtime. His contributions were not just limited to defense, as he also scored a goal and provided an assist. Asheer spent the majority of his career in the I-League, playing for some of the top teams and honing his defensive capabilities.
Asheer expressed his gratitude for the continued support, stating, “I am thrilled to extend my contract with NorthEast United FC. This club has become my home, and I am excited about the direction we are heading. The upcoming season is going to be exciting, and I can’t wait to give my best for our fans and the team.”
