Ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Super League (ISL 2024-25), Odisha FC announced the signing of highly-rated midfielder Hugo Boumous on a three-year deal until the end of the 2026-27 season.
This move marks a reunion for Boumous with Head Coach Sergio Lobera, under whom he has previously played at FC Goa and Mumbai City FC.

Head Coach, Sergio Lobera on Hugo’s arrival, “In my opinion, Boumous is the best player in the league (ISL) in his position. We know each other very well and we know that we need each other to be successful, I hope we can be successful together again. I am delighted that he has decided to join us.”

His arrival also signifies a heartwarming reunion with familiar faces in the Odisha FC dressing room. Boumous will link up with midfield partner Ahmed Jahouh, and defenders Mourtada Fall and Amey Ranawade, with whom he played alongside at FC Goa and Mumbai City FC. This sense of camaraderie will undoubtedly aid Boumous in settling in quickly and replicating his past success.

The 28-year-old midfielder brings a wealth of experience to Odisha FC, having established himself as a key player in the Indian Super League (ISL) since his arrival in 2018. He has made 133 appearances in Indian Football. Throughout his time in India, Boumous has impressed with his attacking prowess, contributing a significant 37 goals and 49 assists.
Boumous boasts an impressive trophy cabinet with 2 ISL League Shields, 2 ISL Playoff Cups, 1 Durand Cup, and 1 Super Cup as well. Individually, Boumous’ talent has shone through, earning him the coveted ISL Golden Ball in the 2019-20 season, and solidifying his status as an elite midfielder.
