Ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Super League (ISL 2024-25), Jamshedpur FC signed seasoned defender Ashutosh Mehta. The 33-year-old right-back, with his experience and battle-hardened credentials, is set to add a layer of depth and stability to Jamshedpur’s backline.
As a two-time I-League champion, with Mohun Bagan and Aizawl FC, Mehta’s expertise will undoubtedly prove invaluable in Jamshedpur’s quest for success.

Ashutosh expressed his joy stating, “I am honoured to join Jamshedpur FC. I am greatful to the club in showing trust in me and I will reciprocate this faith with all my might. I am here to win with everyone and make the fans of Jharkhand proud.”
Most recently, Mehta played for then ATK Mohun Bagan in 2021-22 before playing for NorthEast United in 2020-21, where he consistently impressed with his solid defensive displays.

Prior to that, he had a successful stint with Mohun Bagan, winning his second I-League title in the 2019-20 season. His performances for the Kolkata-based club earned him a recall to the ISL, a testament to his quality and dedication. Before joining Mohun Bagan, Mehta had a second stint at FC Pune City, where he had previously made his ISL debut in 2014. His experience in the top tier of Indian football is undeniable, having also played for Mumbai FC and ATK in the past.
Mehta will be reuniting with Head Coach, Khalid Jamil, who he played under at various stages of his career.
Jamil shared his enthusiasm about the signing, saying, “This year will be the toughest for him as he has to prove himself all over again. As one of the most experienced players in his position, his expertise will be valuable to us. We need his experience in all aspects of the game to adapt to different situations.”
Wearing the number 5 on his back, Ashutosh Mehta has already joined the Men of Steel’s pre-season training. Jamshedpur FC has also signed Sourav Das to strengthen the midfield.
