Ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Super League (ISL 2024-25), Jamshedpur FC announced the signing of promising young defender Shubham Sarangi on a one-year deal with a performance-based extension.
The 24-year-old joins the squad after a stint with Odisha FC from 2019-2023. Prior to his time with Odisha, Sarangi honed his skills with Delhi Dynamos from 2017-19 where he made his ISL debut.

Shubham expressed his joy stating, “I’m thrilled to join Jamshedpur. I had a tough few seasons with injuries but now I am raring to go stronger under the guidance of Coach Khalid Jamil. My goals are to establish myself playing regularly and work cohesively as a unit.”
Sarangi boasts has had an impressive youth career representing India in the 2013 U-14 AFC qualifying tournament held in Iran. This exposure sparked a series of opportunities that shaped his development as a player. Sarangi was subsequently drafted into the U-17 World Cup project for India, undergoing rigorous training in Goa. He then later joined Minerva Punjab F.C. Academy for the 2015-16 season, where he excelled in the U-15 and U-18 I-League. He continued to represent India’s national U-17 squad in World Cup football. In 2018, Sarangi further honed his skills with a four-month training stint at the prestigious Aspire Academy in Qatar.

Head Coach Khalid Jamil shared his enthusiasm about the signing, saying, “Shubham Sarangi’s can seamlessly adapt to various defensive positions. He know that he must fight to cement his position and maintain his availability throughout the season. He has joined us for the past two weeks and I am impressed with his work ethic and drive and has seamlessly gelled with the squad.”
Sarangi will don the jersey number 24 and has already joined pre-season.
