Ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Super League (ISL 2024-25), Jamshedpur FC on Monday announced the departure of goalkeeper TP Rehenesh. The Kozhikode-born player concludes his four-year stint with the Men of Steel, having joined the club in 2020.
Rehenesh arrived at Jamshedpur FC from Kerala Blasters FC on a one-year deal and made an immediate impact. In his debut season, he played a pivotal role as the club finished sixth in the table, narrowly missing out on a playoff spot. His impressive performance included keeping eight clean sheets in 19 games, which was the second-highest tally in the league.
He signed a three-year contract extension with the club ahead of the 2021-22 season. Rehenesh continued his strong form in the ISL, recording six clean sheets that campaign, just one shy of Golden Glove winner Prabhsukhan Gill. His contributions were crucial as Jamshedpur FC boasted the league’s best defensive record that season, clinching the League Shield, a historic first trophy for the club in ISL history.
However, Rehenesh saw reduced playing time in the subsequent season, featuring in only 11 games as Jamshedpur FC finished 10th in the standings.
During the most recent season, Rehenesh was back to his best, appearing in 20 out of 22 games and secured five clean sheets. His experience and performances were instrumental as Jamshedpur FC competed strongly for a playoff spot before their eventual elimination.
