Liverpool’s Senegalese star Sadio Mané has been tested positive for coronavirus. Moreover, Mané is the second Liverpool player who has been tested positive for COVID-19 after Thiago Alcantara.
The 29-year-old Brazillian footballer Thiago missed the Arsenal game after due to the COVID-19 and as per the source both the infected footballers would be absent for Sunday’s Premier League trip to Aston Villa.
The Liverpool club stated, “Sadio Mane has tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently self-isolating according to the necessary guidelines.” However, the mandatory isolation – a cautionary step in order to curb the pandemic has unfortunately impacted his upcoming matches against Morocco and Mauritania.
“I’ve been tested positive but I am feeling good and not showing heavy symptoms,” Mane said on his twitter. The 28-year-old further tweeted, “I will begin my quarantine and recovery process immediately. Make sure that you stay safe and follow all rules to protect yourself and your loved ones, to avoid a second wave of the COVID-19.”

“However, like with Thiago Alcantara, Liverpool Football Club are – and will continue to – follow all protocols relating to Covid-19 and Mané will self-isolate for the required period of time,” the club further added.
Jurgen Klopp, who is the manager of the Liverpool Premier League club mentioned that the availability of both the infected footballers is likely to happen when the Reds will be returning to action after the international break on October 17’s Merseyside derby at Everton.
However, Senegalese icon Mane has been playing exceptionally well during this season and securing an impeccable win over Chelsea, subsequently, followed by a smashing goal against the Gunners.
