England are scheduled to tour India in early 2021 to play the 5 match Test series and 3-3 match ODI and T20 series. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has reportedly indicated to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) their willingness to host India’s Test series against England if the need arises amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
England are scheduled to tour Sri Lanka to play 2 Test match in January 2021, which was postponed in March this year because of coronavirus pandemic.
“The possibility of England staying back after their two Tests in Sri Lanka to complete the series against India has been given some thought after SLC came up with the suggestion,” the report in Island.lk said.
Last week BCCI and ECB mutually postponed the England tour of India to 2021, which was scheduled for late September to early October 2020. So now England will travel to India to play 5 test match, 3 ODIs and T20Is in early 2021.
Sri Lanka Cricket had also shown interest to host the IPL 2020 but the tournament is scheduled to be played in UAE from September. Sri Lanka has also be identified as one of the backup venue for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 which is currently scheduled to take place in India in October 2021.
