Indian women’s shuttler PV Sindhu lost to Tai Tzu- Ying of Chinese Taipei in the semifinals of the Tokyo Olympics today. The number 7 seeded Indian player lost two straight sets to the world number 2,21-18 and 21-12.
The former world number one Tai Tzu- Ying was completely dominant over Sindhu and gave her absolutely no breathing space. Very few mistakes and Tzu- Ying played to the best of her strengths.
Stretching out PV Sindhu to all across the court and using the net to great benefit. Some great drop shots in between to totally take the rhythm. PV Sindhu will play China’s He Bingjaio for the bronze medal whereas Tai and Chen Yufei for the gold.
“I think it’s going to be a bit sad but I need to concentrate on that. It’s not over yet. I still have a chance. So I hope I give my best,” said PV Sindhu.
“When a player couldn’t come into the rhythm this all happens. Yesterday, she was in good rhythm & was able to come back & catch Akane Yamaguchi. Today, Tai Tzu-Ying has not given her any chance at all,” said Sindhu’s father Ramanna.
