India defeated West Indies by 4 wickets via DLS Method in a rain-curtailed match at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain on 14 August 2019 to win the three-match ODI series by 2-0. The match was reduced to 32 over per side when the rain stopped the play when the West Indies was batting in the first inning. West Indies were 158 for 2 in 22 overs, losing Evin Lewis and Chris Gayle. Rain interrupted the game several times but the overs were not reduced.
West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first and it turned out to be a good start for West Indies as Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis looked in great form. Chris Gayle scored quick 72 runs off 41 balls and Evin Lews scored 43 runs off 29 balls. It was raining six and fours when both openers ere on the pitch but when both openers departed at 121, West Indies innings slowed down. West Indies lost wickets in regular interval and finished their innings for 240 in 35 overs. K Khaleel Ahmed took 3 wickets for India and Mohammed Shami took 2 tickets. Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravindra Jadeja took 1-1 wicket each; Bhuvneshwar was most expensive bowlers for India, giving 48 runs in 5 overs for no wicket.
Then, India openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan came down to chase 241 in 32 overs. Rohit Sharma went back to pavilion in the 3rd overs for 10 runs when he ran out by Fabian Allen. Further India lost Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant in quick succession in 13th overs and India went to 92 for 3. It was again Virat Kholi and Shreyas Iyer who rescued India; Virat Kholi scored 43rd ODI century and Shreyas Iyer scored his third ODI fifty. Virat Kholi remained not out for 114 in 99 balls and Shreyas Iyer was out at 65 for 41 balls. India reached the total with 15 balls remaining. West Indies balls looked ineffective, Fabian Allen took 2 wickets and Kemar Roach took 1 wicket.
